INTERNATIONAL IDENTITY DESIGN FOR NTC

NTC is an international machine tool manufacturing company based in Nippei Toyama, Japan. SOZO | Pivotal has worked with NTC for a number of years and assisted this large organization in creating a cohesive identity package that would tie together all four of its major divisions. As it was, NTC America — which is based in Novi, Michigan — was having an identity crisis of sorts as each individual division was responsible for its own brand, marketing initiatives and advertising creative. While some of its key market segments overlapped, others did not. The result? An industry-wide sense of confusion that diluted to size, strength and capabilities of this global company.

Each icon represents one of the four main divisions—Machine Tools, Transfer Lines, Grinding and Laser. From a creative standpoint, each icon is interconnected and through animation the logos have the ability to morph into the all-inclusively designed NTC America globe icon — giving it a visual connectedness otherwise not considered in the previous identities.

Unfortunately, this identity program was sidelined when NTC became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Komatsu Group.
